Program
Welcome to the Historic Downtown Oxford Façade Incentive Grant Program (FIG), a unique opportunity for building owners and tenants within the Municipal Service District (MSD) of Historic Downtown Oxford.
This program has been designed to provide financial incentives aimed at strengthening our city’s core, enhancing the longevity and value of our buildings, and preserving the timeless charm of Downtown Oxford. Our goal is to maintain the aesthetic appeal that leaves a positive and lasting impression on all who visit.
Purposes
Administered by the Downtown Oxford Economic Development Corporation's Design Committee, the FIG program serves several essential purposes:
Renovation & Enhancement
Encouraging storefront and customer/client entry-way renovations in Downtown Oxford.
Design Projects
Supporting building rehabilitation, public art components, and compatible new designs.
Preservation
Safeguarding the unique character of Downtown Oxford.
Longevity
Increasing the sustainability and lifespan of the buildings within Downtown Oxford.
Requirements
To be eligible for this program, certain requirements must be met:
Location
Owners or tenants must be situated within the Downtown District, as defined by the MSD map.
Permission
Building owners or tenants may apply for incentive grants. Tenants must have the owner's written permission included in the application, along with an agreement to maintain the work covered by the grant if the tenant vacates the property.
Timeframe
At least three years must have passed since the last FIG was awarded to the current tenant or building owner.
Special Use Projects
Under extenuating circumstances, FIG requests shorter than a three-year time lapse of previous grant funding may be considered, provided funding remains available in the budget year. These special use projects typically involve significant structural repair, renovation, expansion, or changes in the building's façade when a new tenant moves in.
